Roadeo
The
New Jersey Council on Special Transportation's 24th Annual New Jersey
Paratransit Roadeo was held on held on Saturday, April 12, 2008 at
the NJ Department of Transportation Headquarters located in West Trenton,
NJ. The event was sponsored by COST and New Jersey Transit's Office of Local
Programs Support.
The Paratransit
Roadeo allows drivers from around the state to compete against one another's
driving skills. The Roadeo course is a maze of barrels and cones designed to
represent everyday driving patterns. Drivers are scored on how successful
they are in maneuvering their vehicle around each obstacle. Scores are also
tallied on client sensitivity, wheelchair boarding and a written
examination.
Trophies and prizes
are awarded to the top four high scorers. In addition, the first and second
place winners are invited to represent New Jersey at the National Roadeo
competition.
